What do I need to rent a vehicle?

A valid, unexpired government-issued driver's license (digital IDs, photocopies, and learner's permits aren't accepted), a major credit card that matches the name on your license, and full coverage auto insurance with a $500 deductible. A $300 security deposit is also required. International visitors should bring their home country's license and passport — an International Driving Permit may also be required if the license isn't in English. Our minimum rental age is 21.

How do I check availability and book?

Use the reservation page to view live vehicles and rates, or send an inquiry with your dates and preferred vehicle type.

What happens when I land at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport?

You'll enter the terminal on the upper level; baggage claim is on the lower level. If your vehicle was delivered to the airport, we'll send the parking lot, row, and space number before you arrive — vehicles are usually parked in the Short Term Lot on the 3rd floor of the Red Garage, directly across from the Barbara Jordan Terminal. Some vehicles include remote access so you can locate and unlock the car from your phone; otherwise we'll provide key retrieval instructions, with the exit ticket left in the center console. Renters are responsible for airport parking costs.

If airport delivery wasn't arranged, you'll pick up the vehicle from our lot instead — the address is provided before your rental. For rideshare or taxi pickup at AUS, follow signs toward the Consolidated Rental Car Facility, beyond the Red Garage.

How do mileage, fuel, charging, and returns work?

Most vehicles include 200 miles per rental day; additional mileage is billed at $0.38 per mile at the end of the rental. Gas vehicles go out with a full tank and should come back with a full tank. Electric vehicles go out with at least a 90% charge and should be returned with at least an 80% charge.

Can Bat City Rentals work with my insurance company?

We can provide rental information and documentation for your insurance process. Final approval, reimbursement, rental limits, and payment handling depend on your policy, claim status, and adjuster instructions.

What information should I have ready?

Your expected rental dates, repair shop name, claim number if available, adjuster contact information, and the type of vehicle you need while your car is repaired.

Can I extend the rental if repairs take longer?

Extensions depend on vehicle availability and your rental terms. If your repair timeline changes, contact us as soon as possible so we can review options.

Can I rent a car for a full month in Austin?

Yes, when fleet availability allows. Check current dates on the reservation page or contact us with your expected pickup and return dates.

Do monthly rentals include unlimited miles?

Most vehicles include a daily mileage allowance. Additional mileage, fuel, charging, and return requirements are handled the same as any other rental.

Can you deliver directly to downtown Austin hotels?

Yes. Submit a request through the contact form with your hotel and desired drop-off time. Due to downtown construction, we usually arrange to meet you in person to hand off the keys.
